Exclamation Help! Male Syrian Hamster Bleeding from penis.

Hi I have a roughly 9 week old Syrian male hamster and I’ve taken him out to play tonight and I’ve noticed some blood on his wheel and in the corner of his cage and also the corner in his house, I’ve only had him since Wednesday. He isn’t making any strange noises or crying but he seems to not be eating and drinking normally he is also spending a lot of time in his little house, I did check his paws to check if he had maybe cut them on a bit of rougher bedding but there was nothing and then on his middle/lower stomach where I’m guessing his penis is there is what looks like a bit of red/blood. After cleaning up his cage and watching him for about an hour I thought that it had stopped so I put him into his ball for a bit which he still used and was active as normal, as I went to pick him up I looked underneath at his stomach and noticed that it was almost clenching and then 2 drops of blood came out. After this I put him back into his cage to try and calm him down from me checking him and being in his ball and he went back into his house. I’m really concerned. Please help. Thanks Mia

Can you get him to a vets? If there is bleeding he really needs looking at.
Yes his penis would kind of be whereabouts you are describing.
I wouldn't be putting him in his ball again either. Is there anywhere in the ball or his cage he could have caught himself to cause bleeding?
What type of cage do you have, if it is a high one could he have been climbing and fallen?
Also, just to make sure have you fed him any red based food?
Although you do say he is clenching his stomach and from what you said it sounds like the blood is coming from his penis/urine. If it was me I would be getting him to a vets ASAP.
I hope he is ok.

I'm with Luna.

Have you fed him any red foods?

Maybe speak to the vets. He should definitely not be bleeding, especially not from there. Something could be really wrong.

Little update - Heard back from the vets today, no more blood was found overnight so they are going to observe him for another 24 hours and then if there is no more blood Tommorow then he will be back home
