Smile Hi

Hi,
A bit about me, I love crafts, DIY, sewing, lacemaking, I’m also keen on gardening & keeping the wild birds and squirrels happy, a difficult balance!. Just before Christmas we moved into our first owned house - in our 40’s - my advice is try and do it sooner!!!
I’m in the UK.

I’m excited to learn so much in anticipation of my hamsters arrival this evening, I’ve no idea how she will be, she is 6 months old, no idea what her cage or setup will be, I anticipate P@h advice based. I owned Hammies as a young teenager and so much has changed since then. I will be leave her in her cage with us for a week or so to settle into our house and will be on the lookout for a Barney cage for her in the future.
I have learnt so much already by browsing the forum so thank you to all for sharing your knowledge so readily. Once she has settled i will put her cage base as is into her new environment I am going to try water in a bowl, a sand bath, toilet (interesting how this will go), her new substrate will be aubiose, adding mealworms and other protein sources to her dry mix and see how we get on.
I will share a photo when I have one in the appropriate forum.

Welcome! Congratulations on your new home and your soon to be arriving hamster!

You will find lots of really good advice on here. I have learned so much from thos forum and everybody on here has the best interests of the hamsters in mind which is fantastic.

Are you getting a Syrian or a Dwarf? Both are lovely but each type has their own specific needs.

Hello, looking forward to hearing more about your Syrian hamster. I have 2 Syrians which are 1.5 years old called Blossom and Spot. And I do a lot of knitting, particularly if feeling anxious!
You can post photos of your crafting on here too you know.
