Scent glands or mites
So Olaf is about 10 months old.
Since having Olaf he’s had these bold patches, recently they have become very red, sore looking and have black bits?!
Unfortunately Olaf isn’t people friendly, he’s a biter! So trying to take a photo is near on impossible!
I treated Olaf for mites not that long ago, seemed to stop him from scratching and twitching for a few days, then back to normal?!
Do you think I should treat again? I’ve read a lot of forums and they all talk about scent glands being bold and wet looking, but not sore?!
Unfortunately I can’t upload a photo due to the file size?!

Re: Scent glands or mites
I would take him to the vets to have it diagnosed and they can do a skin scraping and look under a microscope at the scraping to see if it actually is mites. It's best not to treat it yourself as some of these over the counter things are too strong and can make them unwell. They can actually be a bit toxic (the things you can buy to put on it) so it needs properly diagnosing before treating and then use the stuff the vet prescribes. They can even give a one off injection rather than topical treatment, if it is mites.
Scratching is a normal part of grooming so they do that a lot. It's only if they scratch something sore there is an issue.
