Best wheel for space
Hi, this is my first post on here. I have a small male Syrian and at the moment I have an 11" wheel on the floor of his cage. I would like to put a smaller one on a platform to free up some more floor space for burrowing but there is only room for a 9 or 10" on the platform. Is this acceptable?

Re: Best wheel for space
If he can run straight with a flat back and he is not a large hamster that should be just fine. Just keep an eye on him and see how he is running on the new wheel and that it is secure and not moving on the platform as you don't want it to topple over

Re: Best wheel for space
Thank you, have ordered one and will see how he fits when it comes. I have decided to put his 11 inch one in his play box so he can still access it if he wants as well.

Re: Best wheel for space
Which cage is it? I find the most space saving ones screw to the bars (don't stick out as far and don't end up too far into the cage if it has a sloping base). My favourite one for that is the 12" Silent runner. But that only fits if the cage is tall enough. You can also fix the 11" wood trixie wheel to the top bars (upside down).
