Sick Hamster
Hello My name is Mel and my son has a hamster.. “Ziggy” She’s the sweetest thing in the world.. but a couple days ago we noticed he eye won’t open.. so with warm water and a qtip we got it open.. I used eye drops from my sons doc to clean the eye with other end of qtip.. now Ms Ziggy is stumbling around her cage and it’s pitiful to watch.. Please help me.. I’m at work and I have a crying 9 year old at home.. My older son is tryin to help but idk what to tell him to do... can’t afford a vet bill..

Re: Sick Hamster
The sticky eye is often a symptom of an underlying illness and not the illness itself. It does sound as if she is quite unwell if she is losing coordination and this is often a sign that they are nearing the end of their lives. If you can. try and see a vets but if that is not possible then the best you can do is to ensure her cage is easy for her to get round, that she has easy access to food and water and that she is quiet and warm but not to hot.
Sadly is is a life lesson that children with pets have to go through as little ones never live as long as us.

Re: Sick Hamster
So sorry to hear that Ms Ziggy is not well, perhaps you could ask the vet if they treat animals using the PDSA as they could help with vet fees?
