New owner! Not sure what my hamster species
Hi,
I am new owner here just got my hamster a week ago from my niece. She got 3 hamster so I adopted one of them. Not sure about the age and also uncertain about the species. Can anyone here identify what species he is? (I was told he is male but never check)

He’s a very cute Russian dwarf!
Is hay the only substrate in his cage?

I see he is a russian dwarf! Hay just for additional nutrition, aspen shaving will be his bedding.
This is my first hamster but recently i keep seeing him scratching himself, for like few minutes long, I afraid he is infected by mites.

I have yet give him a name yet. Ive been told he is a male but not sure how to see it!
