Question Is Burgess a good food

Recently I've had some confusion surrounding pet food. I have a rabbit as well as hamsters and with rabbits it's beat to avoid muesli type mixes and go for plain nuggets. My rabbit is on burgess nuggets and my hamsters are on the burgess hamster, gerbil and mouse food. Because of what I knew with rabbits i thought that the same would go for hamsters and, wanting to feed them healthily, I introduced them to plain burgess nuggets.
Now I am not sure if I have done the right thing as I have heard people saying muesli mixes encourage natural foraging and represent a hamster's natural diet of grains and seeds.
If anyone had any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Mixes are the way to go in almost every case with the exception being hamsters who have teeth issues and as such can't chew so they'd need moistened pellets instead of a mix.

Rabbit diets and hamster diets are extremely different! For a rabbit, grains and seeds are very unhealthy and are extremely hard to digest(among other issues which you probably know) while for hamsters grains and seeds are very healthy as long as they're a safe variety. This is just one small example of dietary differences, but I'm sure it can at least help a little bit for more perspective on why the type of food that would be suitable for one species just isn't appropriate for the other.

Unfortunately most UK brands, especially those affordable, contain artificial dyes and aren't that great. I personally can only really recommend Rodipet, as there are no artificial dyes or harmful substances in that brand's main diets. The exact one will depend on which hamster species you have.

For Syrians:

For hybrids(called "winter white" or "Russian dwarf" in pet shops):

For other dwarf species(both this and the hybrid are technically diabetes safe so diabetes prone species could use either in my opinion):

I would lean more towards the hybrid mix personally for dwarf species as it does have more protein, but they also luckily have some good protein boost options through Rodipet that you can order at the same time:
https://www.rodipet.co.uk/pet-foods/...nack-50-g.html
https://www.rodipet.co.uk/pet-foods/...nack-40-g.html
https://www.rodipet.co.uk/pet-foods/...nack-70-g.html
https://www.rodipet.co.uk/pet-foods/...nack-50-g.html

The mix would be a good trial product in my opinion as you'd get to try all of the insects without having to buy all three separately.

It is going to be quite a bit more short term to buy Rodipet compared to cheap grocery or pet store foods, but there is a massive difference in quality control and overall product quality as well as species appropriateness. Wagg is also lacking in variety and contains multiple vague ingredients, while the Rodipet foods are completely whole foods in their natural state.
