Default New member introduction

Hi my name is Randi. I am a 28 year old mother of two, born and raised in Philly but relocated to myrtle Beach, SC about 6 years ago. My condo can be compared to a zoo. We have a 150g inhabiting a Pacu, an African leaf leaf and a foot long Pleco. We also have a fiddler and red clawed crab, 3 pea puffer fish, a pink and a blue African clawed frogs, a goldfish, a yellow bellied turtle, 9 toads of various species, 11 tree frogs (American green TF, squirrel TF, barking TF, Australian Whites TF and a mystery frog that was sold to me as a whites tree frog but I have my doubts) and last but not least.. you guessed it, a hamster!
Angel, our Syrian hamster is my daughters little baby and is the reason I joined this forum. I’d like to know as much as I can on giving Angel the healthiest and highest quality of life because she has given my daughter such joy since our dog passed away Christmas Eve. My daughter and I are also looking in to making an epic hamster cage. She has already bought Angel 4 different enclosures and we haven’t even had her a year yet. Since my daughter no longer has to share a bedroom with her sibling she wants her new room to be all Angel lol. I’m hoping to gather some ideas on how to incorporate all 4 enclosures into one huge habitat so if any of yous have some cool ideas on how to do this we are all ears 🐹

Hi Randi welcome. Look forward to seeing you round the forum. Wow those are some interesting cage plans, can’t wait to see what it all looks like!
Don’t really have a lot to offer without knowing the sizes and types of cage etc but be careful with joining them as it needs to be safe & entirely escape proof. Learning from past mistakes I now just prefer one large space - as it is better than different compartments generally, but again it depends what size you’re looking at. Loads of good DIY ideas using things like furniture boards and plexiglass to make a big habitat.

Hi Randi and welcome! I bet you never watch TV with so many interesting creatures around you.

You could post pictures of Angel's cages and bounce a few ideas off people here. Also let us know what Angel's personality is like and what she likes to do in her cage aside from sleeping and eating. I think a set up can be tailored towards the individual hamster.

My Syrian Henry for example doesn't burrow or climb the bars but likes to spend time above ground so has various shelves, a suspension bridge and the likes.
