Hello everyone!

I am both a new user and a new hamster owner.

My little Robo Cookie was adopted from P@H a couple of months ago – he was a store hamster who had been there for a few weeks already, and was moved to the adoption section due to lack of interest. This drove me crazy – it almost looked like he was being presented as defective goods – so we took him in, and I could not be happier that we did

I did not know much about keeping hamsters (I’ve been more of a guinea pig lady for the past few years), but I was fully committed to doing all necessary research and making improvements from day one, and providing tiny Cookie with the best care I possibly can.

It’s been quite the learning curve over the past few weeks, and I have found a wealth of essential information on Hamster Hideout and Hamster Central. This community has been invaluable when it comes to ensuring Cookie leads a healthy and happy life, and for that we are both extremely grateful!

Cookie himself was said to be 10 - 12 weeks old when we adopted him, which would make him around 4.5 - 5 months old right now. He has settled in very well, and currently resides in a Terrarium Kerry, with plans to upgrade him to a Detolf within the coming months. While maybe not the tamest of hamsters, he’s usually happy to sit on my hand and have a treat, and once in a while he will let me gently stroke him on the side – I count that as a huge success

He’s obviously not easy to take a picture of, but I have made the effort (especially if I saw him out and about during the day). Below please find some of the moderately successful attempts:
