Question Cambells diet?

So, I use harry hamster mixed with the complete hamster and gerbil pellets. I also spread some mealworms around the cage. Is this a good diet for my 4 month old cambells female? Ftr I give them fresh vegetables too.

Unfortunately not, no. You need more variety with more seeds for a dwarf and less pellets, and Harry hamster is mostly pellets itself. I wouldn’t feed any mixed hamster-gerbil diets as those species shouldn’t be lumped together at all. The rodipet hybrid mix would be good for a campbells. An alternative is the bunny dwarf hamster dream expert but I think the rodipet is better. The added mealworms and fresh veggies is good. Not too many mealworms, more like one a day maybe a bit more when she’s young.

Thanks! Unfortunatley, I live in Sweden and I can't get hold of much else. I do have a seed mix that I could add. Also, the gerbil and hamster food has 5% fat and 19% protein I believe. I could add a picture of the things I use if you want.

I also have a two year, one month old hamster that is also a cambells. Should I give him more or less mealworms than my four month old?

Rodipet ships to Sweden. Getzoo does too as does zooplus I’m pretty sure. So there are plenty of options. You cannot purely look at the fat and protein % there is much more to that in a hamster food, you need to look at the variety and how natural they are as well as the full ingredients list. Like I said any kind of pellets are not ideal and they won’t be adding anything beneficial to the food. You are better off investing in one good mix ie the ones I listed, rather than combining the pellets/HH/this new seed mix as the pellets and Harry hamster just aren’t ideal.

The old hamster doesn’t need as much protein and too much can do more harm than good. I’d probably give mealworms every few days or something but it depends on the protein level in the food mix.

So, if I order the Rodipet, do I mix it with anything else or just use it as it is?

I still live with my parents and I don't have a lot of pocket money, so my parents think it's much easier to buy my food from a pet shop instead of online. Where I live most of the things you can get hold of in the shops is Vitakraft and the harry hamster, but if it's best to order online then I'll try doing so.

I'm planning on getting a syrian sometime in the next two months or so, is the Harry hamster good for them or is the rodipet good for them too?

Thanks for the help!

Just the rodipet is fine. But they suggest feeding an insect alongside it daily - so a mealworm or shrimp or cricket or whatever. As they are omnivores so it is important to give them that regular animal protein.

Dwarfs and Syrians do need different diets. Harry hamster is somewhat more suited to Syrians I guess because the pellets are a better size for them, but it doesn’t change the fact that it is comprised of mostly pellets. A green or red or a circular pellet is not added variety if you see what I mean. Rodipet do a Syrian mix but I have not seen it myself, but it is more natural with no pellets and no colouring. Either way they will definitely need two separate mixes. I think the getzoo mix is supposed to be very good for Syrians. Mixerama I’m fairly sure also ship to Sweden. Expensive delivery but you can get a dwarf and Syrian mix from there and they’re both very good, and you can order in larger quantities than Rodipet (so cheaper) and keep it in the freezer to cut down on costs. I think the rodipet mix lasted my robo about 3 months so it’ll be a bit less than that for a hybrid dwarf.
