Smile New to hamster world

Hi everyone!

My name is Linki and I hail from South Africa.

I recently acquired 2 syrians when my little boy saw some in a pet shop and we decided to go for it!

Boy, did I not know what I was letting myself in for!

3 weeks later we dound squirmy little pink bodies and suddenly we had 11 hamsters and I started googling to figure out this journey!!

11 daya in and Inam happy to report that all 10 are running aroung happily - but my stomach will probably only unclench next week! This has been very stressful!!

Hi and welcome!
So, what happened??
Syrians need to live alone so your hamsters would be in seperate cages. Did the pet shop sell you a pregnant female?

Oh my goodness, the pet shop should've told you not to house Syrians together. It's also important that you leave mum hamster to look after her babies.

South African petshops are normally very clued up and their staff are knowledgeable and advise well...clearly not! Please, fellow South African...read all you can here and seek advice on everything and anything. Ask as many questions as you need to. The people here are amazing!
