Default Hello from north England

Hello~ my name is Rowena, I'm from West Yorkshire in England.

I previously owned two Syrians quite a number of years ago;

and Ginger:

I've joined to brush up on & my knowledge of owning prior to getting a new addition! Thank you for having me ^-^

To get to know one another in a fun way, I thought we could each share a random fact about ourselves~ I can speak Korean

It's a great idea to brush up and find out about things before getting another hamster. Things have changed a lot over the years with more understanding of welfare needs etc. The main thing is a suitable cage and safe cage contents, a good hamster mix, suitable litter/substrate (and enough of it), a house big enough to build a good sized nest in, and not doing full weekly cleans. Potty litter trays save on the need for too many cleanouts which cause to hamsters.

Also thinking about where to get a hamster from. Ask away! You are among people who care about hamsters and there are some experienced breeders on here.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It's lovely to meet you all ^-^

I've bought a Ferplast Criceti 15 but already have guilt knawing at me in the knowledge that it's just barely the minimum requirement, I'm feeling I ought to prepare a bin cage too in case hammy outgrows it. Being a university student that moves at least once a year, I can't get a large cage/Ikea tank, so I guess I ought to hop into the DIY threads and look up bin cages?

I've enquired at Austin's Hamster Haven and also have my eye on Custard Hamstery's upcoming litters- I hope I can adopt, if possible. Would you happen to know if there are currently any other active Northern breeders/rescue centres around the Leeds/Manchester area please? (Hello neighbour! @Robean )
