Hi, I am a new hamster owner and need some advice as I always over react and worry that I don't care for Mr Nosey properly. I researched thoroughly before purchasing our hamster, he arrived home with us a couple of days ago. He is 8 weeks old and a lovely character. Can I just ask how long a Syrian hamster sleeps for? He has slept for 10ish hours now. He has no signs of diarrhoea and is eating and drinking ok. The only thing I can think of he has gone from a smallish cage, to a lovely big cage with lots of room to move and play, could he just worn out?? I am such a worrier, but my son is so besotted with him. Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi welcome, congrats on your new ham. 10 hours in the nest really is normal, a lot of the time you won’t see them much if at all during the day. It won’t be surprising if he isn’t out much either since he’s just settling in and will be rather stressed so just give him time.

Hi and welcome to HC. Once the weather gets warmer you'll see a bit more of your hammy. 10 hours in the nest is normal.
