Default Hi from me and the hamlettes

Hey, all! I'm new here, though not new to keeping hamsters. However, a lot has changed - a LOT! - since I first kept them as a 20-something back in ... oh boy! ... 1977?!?!?! Back then, I was a small breeder for a local pet store or 2 ... my babies were sweet and healthy, and that was somewhat uncommon. It helped that I actually worked at one of the stores I supplied, so I was able to play with my kiddos daily, keeping them very social and outgoing.

Now, I don't really have any intention of breeding. I'm not one to compete, and there is at least one local breeder who has a loyal clientele and I'd rather not step on toes. Besides, as picky as I am? Nobody would qualify to adopt my babies - LOL!!

So, I only have pets. All girls. I love each of them for their unique personalities, and love interacting with and caring for them. I have 2 Syrians, 3 dwarfs that I honestly don't know genetic background on, and one little Robo. I'll post pics as soon as I have a chance to get some really good ones of my new baby Syrian.

I'm here because I enjoy learning; so much has changed for he better since I was "in" hamsters; but yet, some old scenarios have replayed s familiar, so it's all very interesting to me. One aspect I am very interested in learning about id color genetics and how they inherit. It appears to be different for each species of animal, at least somewhat; and terminology makes it more so.

So, thanks for having me, and I look forward to meeting some new friends and learning a lot!

Kathy

Hehehe! I love that you call them your hamlettes, that's adorable! They sound like a little singing group. I adopted my Syrian with the name Hamlet and decided to keep it, so I'm biased to love the hamlet(tes) I look forward to seeing pictures of them all!
