Default Hi hamsters lovers!!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but not new to hamsters
I had hamsters when I was younger and now, in my 30s, after 10 year with some more money and some more knowledge I would like to adopt a new robo from a friend.

I already choose almost everything, my only doubt is on the cage. Kerry skyline Vs something else

I find Kerry really wonderful but I know it is super heavy.
I don't have much space In my home (living in the center of Milan) and I would like to use the living room mainly but in case I have someone to host for dinner or plays I would need to bring the hamster home to my bedroom.

Do you maybe have any suggestion or hint?
I don't want something stressful for the hamster but at the same time I would like something easy to clean and move if needed

Thanks everyone who may help me!
Have a nice weekend!

Hello welcome.

I wouldn’t really recommend the Kerry to be honest, as you’ve said it’s heavy and also isn’t the biggest, the access is also a bit awkward especially when dealing with a robo.

Would the maxi duna multy fit? It’s about a metre long. The regular duna multy is approx the same size as the kerry but it is on the small side for hamsters, even robos, larger would be better.
Otherwise a Mickey 2XL can work for a robo with its narrow bars, it’s 80cm long and a better size than the Kerry & regular multy.

Hi & welcome to HC.

I wouldn't recommend the Kerry really, it is very heavy, especially with a good deep layer of substrate in it so moving it would be difficult, it's a bit on the small side too really.
I'd agree with the suggestions mangoandmimi made if those cages are available where you are.

I have a Maxi Duna Multi and it's a wonderful cage. I got it on Amazon and it was shipped from Italy so I'd imagine you'd be able to get your hands on one if you wanted. Congratulations on your adoption by the way!

Thanks all for your help.
Unfortunately I could not find the maxi duna in Italy if not at an high price directly from the vendor site.
So, at the end, even if I'm not fully convinced, I bought the Alexander cage.

I really hope I won't need to clean around the cage everyday! (crossfinger).

Hello and welcome to HC!
The Alexander is a pretty good cage! You actually don’t and shouldn’t clean around the cage every day. Hamsters like to keep their scent around the cage. If you are concerned about smell, this is a thread about how to potty train your hamster Any idea how to potty train a hamster?(desperate).
