Default Wooden of Plastic Wheel?

Hello! I'm new here, i own one male short hair hamster named Mac, but I'm also a previous owner to two other hamsters.
I'm not knowledgeable on certain things and it may be debatable wether my hamsters were in amazing care whilst i owned them (They lived good, healthy lives i was just a bit naive) but im willing to make a difference for Mac!

But anyway! The question is about wheels, one of my many lacking areas of expertise. Right now, Mac currently has a small wire wheel, which i know is absoulutely terrible for him! However, until i started his Instagram account (cheeky plug - @hamstermaccc) i had no idea about Bumble foot, because my other hamster lived to a great old age of 2yrs 7months. Now, im about to make my change.
I've heard alot. My two personal options are between The Trixie Wooden Wheel (28cm) and The Trixie Rodent Wheel (Large). There are Pros and Cons to both however...

The Trixie Wooden Wheel is a lovely size and of a lovely quality, with no risk of back arching either, which is amazing! It looks super sturdy and is apparently silent, from other reviews. BUT some reviews I've read have claimed that it promotes chewing, and soaks up urine which doesnt sound the most appealing. I think there was one review from Amazon which said it had splinters and was not at all sanded when it came, but i suppose that was a bad batch?

And then there's the Mightly Famous Rodent Wheel, which seems a lovely size, a cute design and has extra safety features. BUT it doesnt look particularly sturdy and i have a feeling my little baby will chew at it (even though he's not an avid chewer). Plus, the aesthetic isnt particularly to my taste haha.

So mighty hamster forum, help me out!

The wooden wheels are usually fine, it's always best to check them for any splinters & you might need to lightly sand them sometimes but I've had a few in the past with no problems, chewing isn't common but they do need painting with two or three coats of Plastikote water based enamel to pee proof them!

Did you mean Wodent wheel when you said Rodent wheel? They're Ok but depending on which country you're in they can be hard to get hold of I believe.

The best wheels are the silent runners, not silent spinners!

Have a look here for a run down of suitable wheels.
