Question Help I'm new.

I have had my little hammie Boba for a little over a week now. I've had hamsters before, but that was years ago as a child. Anyways I went to the Dollar Tree to see what I could find and came across these small "grapevine" balls they sell in floral decorations and without thinking I grabbed them. I've looked everywhere for information on them with no luck. So my question I guess is does anyone know of these & does anyone know if they're safe? Oh Boba is a Syrian Hamster. Thanks in advance.

I've read on various forums that grapevine is safe for rabbits so I don't see why hamsters can't have them as well. As long as they're not varnished or treated with anything I'd give them a go

I’m very wary about these cheap decorations that aren’t marketed for small animals because even if the actual material is safe, you have no idea what went into it when it was made. It wasn’t designed to be non toxic nor can you tell by looking if it is so personally I wouldn’t risk it.

Hi and welcome to HC!
Congratulations on Boba! I love that name! Like mangoandmimi said, you have know idea what has gone on them. While grapevine is safe those balls probably aren’t. If you want some grapevine or other types of wooden play toys, go for the ones that are marketed towards pets. Grapevine is normally found in the reptile section. I cant wait to hear a little more about Boba and your adventures to come!

Hi and congratulations on Boba. Grapevine may be suitable for some animals, it depends what's been added to it, you may have to go onto the website where you got them and get a list of what it contains.
