Greetings
Hi! My name is Jackie and I just got my first hamster Phi today. I live in New York (totally the best place to have small pets) and work in an office most of the day. I found this cite from a YouTuber that I was getting a lot of hamster advice from. Can’t wait to keep learning and to post up so cute pictures of Phi!

Thanks I’m happy to be here! It’s kinda hard to get pictures of her right now since she is still a little scared but I have these two! Also I know she doesn’t have a lot in her food bowl. I was filling it when she ran in.

Re: Greetings
Hi and welcome to HC!
Phi is gourgous! It is very normal for a ham to get scared, give her a few days to settle in. Through the few days, when she wakes up or is asleep talk to her to get her used to your voice. It may sound a little silly but it dose help in the long run. You can also use the tissue trick which is when you get a tissue (plain, unscented) and rub it all around your hands, wrist, and arms. You can also leave it in your sleeve. When you’ve at it in there for a bit you can tear it and scatter around the cage, this helps your scent become for familiar. Sorry if you already know this! Keep us updated on Phi’s progress! If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask!

Re: Greetings
Awww! She's adorable
It is probably best to wait a while for more photos if she's still a little shy, look forward to seeing more of her when she's settled.

Re: Greetings
Wow I didn’t know about the toliet paper thing at all. That will be super helpful and I have been talking to her whenever she’s awake. So hopefully she gets used to my voice. Also I’ve been leaving alone to her own devices mostly hoping that she gets used to her tank cause the one at the pet shop was tiny and had no wheel and barely any bedding.

Re: Greetings
Hi and welcome to HC, Phi looks so sweet and so tiny too... Just give her some time to get used to her new environment and you and she will probably be just fine.

Phi is so cute! Is she named after the Greek letter?
