I can’t upload photos.... saying too big? Don’t know how to resize them on an iPhone to fit for the forum.

Do you think kitchen towel will be ok for bedding?

Also, I have an 8” Trixie wheel. Is this too big for a dwarf hamster? I got a small flying saucer but I think that’s too small, so was going to get the medium sized one.

Thanks, we are going to get our hamster now!

You can resize photos by emailing them to yourself then hitting the resize button and I think small should work. You can also youse an app the resize it, I use Image Size.

Kitchen Towle is okay for a bedding but it wouldn’t be my top choice. It doesn’t have odor control. As long as it is unscented and plain it should be okay!

8” wheels are great for dwarfs! My dwarf personally dosen’t like 8” but my past dwarf would spend all day on it!
Congratulations on your new dwarf!

Here is our cage set up, just need to take a couple more now Smartie is home! He’s got his nice new wheel. I’m just a little worried that he hasn’t visited the 2nd floor to have a drink yet but he’s only been in his new cage for 30 minutes so far and he keeps having a power nap. X

Congrats on getting your new ham!
I'm sure Smartie will find his way around the cage & drink etc in his own time, I would suggest putting more substrate in though, you could fill the base right up to the level of the shelf.

Congratulations on Smartie, loving the cage set up, lots to keep him amused. Agree with Cypher about more substrate.

I would personally wait until he’s awake, so he doesn’t wake up to a bunch more bedding above him

Congrats on the new little one! I’m sure he’ll find your home to be wonderful Looking forward to meeting him!

I think it's fine to add a bit more substrate while he's asleep if you can do it without waking him, as he's new having more put in while he's awake could be a bit stressful for him but if you wake him up & startle him that would stress him too so it depends if you can do it without disturbing him or not.
If you do it when he's awake I would just add a little at a time.
