Hey :D
Hi
So I'm getting a Syrian hamster in the next week or two and I've picked out the cage, toys and food. I am very excited because this will be the first pet I would have gotten.
Can anyone suggest any other good 50cmx50cm cages ( I am getting the Ferplast Cage Duna Fun Decor. )

Re: Hey :D
Hi & welcome to HC
Great to hear you will soon be getting your first hamster!
50x50cm is too small for a Syrian hamster, you do need to get a lot into the cage, a lot of substrate, big house, big wheel (maybe up to 12") plus room to run around, dig & burrow & that's just not possible in a cage that size.
Are you in the UK? If so then you can get good cages from Zooplus, the Alexder, Barney & Alaska are all good, the Hamster Heaven is ok if you're a bit short on space although a little small & best used without the penthouse or tubes which can be blocked off.
You can see the cages here.

Re: Hey :D
Hi and welcome to HC! That is such wonderful news that you are getting your first ever pet very soon and I hope that you and your Syrian pal will have the greatest time with one another. As Cypher has mentioned, the cage you are considering getting is much too small. Any of the cages that Cypher suggested will be great for a Syrian. Have fun getting all of the last minute preparations done and getting you new, little fluff. I look forward to seeing you around the forum and getting to know and see your Syrian ham, too.

Re: Hey :D
Thanks, Cypher and Dreamtree!
Because my room is very small the only place to put a cage is 50x50 but if I get a bigger cage then it will have to go downstairs ;(
Taking in what you guys said I will get the 'Savic Hamster Heaven Metro Cage' which is much more spacious.
The link was good thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your future ham.
Glad you're getting a bigger cage. Looking forward to hearing more about him/her once settled in.
