Re: My introduction
Hey Deanna! Welcome to the forum! I can't wait to hear more about your lovely family. In terms of the hamsters food, are they dwarf hamsters or Syrian hamsters?
In terms of DIY chews... I'm not the best at DIY stuff haha, tend to just give my hams Whimzee toothbrushes which last a long time and are pretty great for keeping teeth trim. My hams do not like traditional wooden toys. Sometimes I cut toilet rolls horizontally into circular strips and slot them together with a treat inside - forming a sort of ball that traps the treat and they have fun playing with that! Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe others have some good ideas

Hello and welcome to the forum
I am not the best at DIY either but erinsanimals has a wonderful tutorial on youtube for DIY woodies caterpillar chews. I believe they are very simple to make.
I feed my syrian hamster the harry hamster mix however there are many more on the market which you should look into to come to a decision as to which mix you believe to be best for your hams

Re: My introduction
Welcome to the forum.
My hamster (robo) receives the harry hamster mix however i am considering changing to a dwarf friendly one.
I am not sure which species yours are though?

Re: My introduction
Hey, welcome to hamster central! I was wondering which species are your hamsters? It is hard to recommend you the food for hamsters without knowing their exact species.

Re: My introduction
Hi & welcome to HC
Finding good hamster food in the US can be tricky, are your hamsters Syrians? If they are then Hazel Hamster (the same as Harry Hamster here) should be ok.

Re: My introduction
Hi and welcome to HC! It sounds like you have a lovely, furry family. I look forward to getting to know your furry family and seeing pics of them if you get a chance. See you around the forum.
As others have mentioned, the food that you give to your hamster depends on the type of species they are. There are lots of foods that Syrians can have that aren't appropriate for dwarfs that are more prone to diabetes.
I used to spend a bunch of time creating DIY chew toys for my Syrian Eros, but then I found out that she much prefers store bought ones. I give her Whimzee chew toys, and she absolutely loves them. She uses them as toys and chewables; in fact, she is rarely seen without carrying one around with her, lol.
