I'm sorry that Fudge is a bit nippy at the moment, but it is still quite early as you just brought him home so hopefully things will be different when he is settled in more. I would just keep doing the tissue trick, talking to him softly even if he isn't visible at the time, and rub your hand in his substrate to make your scent and the sound of your voice more familiar to him. Also, once you are able to take him to a playpen or dry tub with towel over the plug for his outside of the cage taming sessions, he will probably be less territorial and nippy. As you have had other hams in the past, I'm sure you already know all of this. I will be hoping that he settles in more, and you and your daughter can do lots of bonding with him soon. I will be wishing you all the best.
