Default where can I adoption hamster?

my daughter recently lost her first pet back in December it was a solid white hamster, not sure what kind he was,was told he was teddy bear hamster, his hair was really long, anyway we couldn't find the heart to tell her the truth that he passed away he was her entire world, and even our family world, so we told her that her elf on the shelf name sparkle let him out of his cage when we were sleeping, luckily took about month found one we thought was identical, cost $40, would never paid that much but she was so heartbroken wanting him come home, and thought we found twin to him, sent husband to check out buy him,we didn't notice these difference this new one female, not male, hair on new one was shorter, but my daughter who is 8, notice them,we told her their hair Fall out through winter, and their eyes change color as get older, can anyone tell me where we can adopt hampster in Martinsville, Bassett va area, all Local pets store out of business.

What a tangled web we weave !!! Though your intentions were well meant it is not a good idea to protect our children from the fact about death and losing a pet which is inevitable with small pets. They need to learn about things like this so they are prepared for the future when they lose their first human life and also for animals passing away. It is surprising how well the take things as long as you explain well and allow them to grieve and to help with the arrangements for a parting that they feel is a tribute to their friend. Perhaps making a memory box or helping tend a little memorial garden or writing a letter to their pet is good.
I would come clean with your daughter and explain that you were trying to be kind but now you know it was the wrong thing to do and you know you should all share your loss and comfort each other. Then make the memory box or something for your lost boy. Trust your child to deal and teach her that life and death will always be part of her life and how she copes and remembers is her choice. Enjoy your new girl for what she is - a unique and special girl. Give her a new name and embrace her in to your family. There will come a time when she departs too and your child will be able to mourn her loss then but for now don't try and prepare for an eternal hamster by keeping on deceiving her!
