Default Hello everyone

Hello everyone, I hope you and your hamsters are doing ng well, I'm a new hamster mom. Any advice and tips on caring for a hamster are welcome. My Syrian hamster's name is Dr. Pepper. He's still quite small/young, when we got him he was advertise as "baby hamsters available for adoption" and we've had him for almost 3 weeks. He's currently in a Ikea Billy Extension habitat **don't worry, he'll be getting an upgrade soon** I bought the Iris Tree Box (52.88"L x 20.88"W x 14.00"H) So any suggestions on how to convert this bin into a habitat would be greatly appreciated. Also he has an 8 inch comfort wheel, which fits in the bin. Thank you 🐹😄❤

I have gone through some forums now. When I made the account it asked me to make a post and this is what I came up with.

Hello and welcome. An Iris bin cage sounds amazing! Yes unfortunately a lot of older posts used photobucket to link photos and photobucket pulled that forum option. More recent threads have embedded images now. For some ideas you could look at the latest "lets see your cages" thread

Let's see your cages - New thread - July 2017

Or if there's something specific and you start a post asking about it, people can add their images to your thread to give an idea of setups

For converting an Iris bin - I would think it would be similar to any other bin cage conversion. I have seen photos of people not using the lid at all but using kitchen racks (rubbermaid?) as a barred top! That might be a bit expensive though. But meant less need for cutting the bin for ventilation at the sides.

Unfortunately, due to the photobucket thing, a lot of images that used to come up on google have disappeared too. But there are a few here - including the one with the grid top.

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ir...w=1252&bih=553

I'm sure if you start a post titled Iris bin conversions, you'll get more feedback from US members. The Iris bin isn't available in the Uk so it tends to be US members who have them
