Smile Hello to you all from Oxfordshire

Hi All - My name is Claire and I'm from Oxfordshire. I got our new family pet hamster last week. His name is Fudge and he is now just over 6 weeks old. He is a very cute long brown haired Syrian. I purchased him from a Breeder at one of the Midland Hamster Club Shows. I'm very new to all of this and although I have done an awful lot of research (since having hamsters as a child) I've still got a lot to learn!. At the moment we’re having a small issue with nipping when out of the cage so I’m sure I’ll be calling on you all for some advice very soon.

What a stunning looking hamster, his cheek flashes are so dark (like sideburns). I reckon the nipping is just he's not completely tame yet, by tame I mean he's still a bit nervous of you, or else your hands smell of food. He will get used to you quickly if you don't rush the relationship. Congratulations on your beautiful Fudge

Fudge looks lovely. Hopefully he will stop nipping as he gets more used to you and handling.

Hi Claire, welcome to the forum & congrats on getting Fudge, he's a very handsome little man!

As the others said the nipping should stop as he gets more used to you & to being handled.

Thank you all. I'm still persevering with the handling every evening and he hasn't nipped again (as yet).
