Hello and welcome to HC! Congrats on giving James Bond his loving, forever home with you. I am sure that the two of you will have an amazing time bonding together. This forum is filled with tons of helpful, informative information, and everyone is so caring of one another and each other's pets. I look forward to reading updates on James and seeing lovely photos of him whenever he is settled in more and you have a chance. BTW, I totally love and appreciate your hammies name. I am a total 007 fan, and my Syrian Eros is often referred to by many members at HC as Miss Eros007.

Hello and welcome. I hope you don't mind me making a suggestion I saw your cage for James on the Let's see your cages thread, and just wanted to suggest something to avoid fall risks. With a tall cage and gaps between the platforms there's a risk a hamster can climb along the roof bars on the top and drop a long way and injure themselves. You could probably get round that quite easily by removing one of the higher levels (ie the shelf each side) and making the next level down into a full level - you could just put a piece of wood/plywood across the two shelves, with a section cut out at one side to leave space for a ladder eg. You'd then need something over the ladder gap so James couldn't fall down that from the top. Eg a small shelf that fixes over the gap (maybe one of the existing ones removed - if that makes sense!)

They tend to do better with more floor space and less height as they climb well but tend to just drop to get down again. If you need any suggestions for alternative cages, just ask - the Alaska, Barney and Alexander at Zooplus are popular. The Alaska is a good size and inexpensive
