Default Hello

Hi
So after many many years I have bought a Hamster again, its mainly for my daughter but I joined here just to take a look around and to make sure she is being kept properly.
At the moment she is in a Savic Julie Double but I'm concerned she doesn't have enough space really and was hoping to find some clever ways of joining cages DIY style to ensure she has enough room to exercise and roam about.

Hello and welcome to HC!

This is a great place to go to learn how to care for your hams. If you ever have any questions at all, please ask

Hi & welcome to HC, congrats on your new ham

I don't know that cage so not sure how big it is, joining cages in a totally escape proof way isn't always easy & they do better with one large floor space really so you might do better to just start over with a new cage.

Hi - Joining wire cages together is possible but would be quite difficult(and potentially dangerous if done poorly).I think a DIY cage from scratch or some sort of multi-bin setup(directly connected, never with tubes and such as that doesn't count into the actual floor space) would be much easier, even if it's nothing too complicated such as a double Detolf(two Detolf's sealed together with aquarium sealant, requiring a raised lid of course, this requires several days as sealant must cure fully before it is safe to have a hamster live in such a cage but other than that it's fairly easy).

She's actually quite cute, a little skittish still and rolls over a lot which I assume is a submission thing to predators to look dead but then seems to stay there for a tummy rub?
I would be Grandpaham

I might actually do that after a while, they look a good idea.
