Friday night I had to go to the store where we bought Zelda about a year ago. they are the only ones who sells burgess.
turns out they got a whole lot of baby hamsters tuesday and among them was this little girl:
She came all the way up to the glass and just stood there, paws stretched out toward me
She is just 6 weeks old and so tiny!
I couldn't take her home that day, but I knew she belonged with us.
I came back the next day I went back with a travel box, determined to get her, if she was still there(terrified that she wasn't).
When I got there I couldn't see her anywhere, but luckily she was just hiding
She has been with us for a day now and she is the most adorable little girl!
The cage is very small, but she will be upgraded in the future. I didn't want to overwhelm her with a giant cage all alone, when she has just come from a cage about double that size but with around 10 roommates.
We are very impressed with how fast she is settling in.
Within a couple of hours she was out and about investigating and running on the disc. she didn't even run from my hand when i put the disc in. (realized i forgot when she tried running on the build-in wheel, that's practically impossible to move)
she didn't come investigate, but she didn't run either.
It's the same today(the day after). It's like she has just settled straight in to her daily life, as long as we don't stick our hands in.
I have never seen that before. I'm really impressed with her.
feels like she has just skipped the settling in period entirely, but I am still trying to give her her space.

it's been 1 day and this is how she is just strutting around. gave her a tiny piece of cheese and she repayed me with cuteness
