Talking Hi everyone~ new newbie here!

Hi guys! My name is Sylv and I'm new here I'm an 18 year old artist from The Netherlands that mostly draws cartoons. I'm still a child at heart when it comes to that, haha. but let's get to the hamsters!

I'm currently the proud owner of two hamsters. One is a little fatty named(I got him uh..pretty "well rounded" in the first place from the pet shop) named Bert! I named him Bert after my late grandpa, as a little nod to him. I believe I've had him for abooout 7 months now!

My other hamster is a shy one and seems to be scared easily. (I've had him for a week or so now so we'll see how he turns out after his taming) He's called Togum, which is turkish for seed.

I believe they're both regular russian dwarfhamsters, or some type of winter white hybrids. I'll attach a picture of Bert here, maybe you guys can help me out with identifying him . Sadly I don't have any pictures of Togum yet, as he is a bit too scared for photo shoots and I don't want to scare him.

I hope to learn a lot of things on this forum and give my little friends the best lives they could possibly lead

Welcome to hamster central!

Ooh, a fellow artist! I love art myself. I'm not a cartoonist but I find that style of art to be very cool and sometimes funny I can't seem to master it lol. I like to stick with the typical art mediums (colored pencils, acrylic paint, artist markers) but I've started to branch out with polymer clay and most recently watercolors.

Your hamster is a Winter White dwarf Hybrid. The only way he would be purebred is if he has a pedigree from a breeder. Given this just be careful with his diet, hybrids are prone to diabetes if they are fed too much sugar (storebought treats, too much fruit, yoghurt drops, bad food mixes). The best food for WW hybrids is Burgess dwarf if you didn't know

Hello and welcome to hamster central!

Like crystalroborovski said, they're going to be hybrids unless you have a pedigree showing they're either a Campbells or WW. Bert looks absolutely adorable Looking forward to learning more about them

Hi & welcome to HC

Bert looks adorable there, hope we get to meet Togum too when he gets a little braver!
As the others have said they will both be WW/Campbells hybrids.

As Crystalroborovski mentioned hybrids can be prone to diabetes so do take care to make sure they have a good dwarf mix with no fruits or sugars & not sweet treats.
Stick to a nice variety of fresh veg & avoid any fruit.
