Re: Meet Jay!
He looks so cautious in that photo How sweet to hear he's settling in. Any quirks you notice with him?

Aww that little face is so sweet
Good to hear he's settling in well & enjoying his wheel, he sounds like my Chineseys preferring to burrow under his house!

Re: Meet Jay!
Hi, Amy and Jay! Congrats on your new little buddy! He is so, SO cute, and I am totally in love with his striking coloration in his fur. I have never before seen the blending of colors like a mask around portions of his face on any other hamster that I have met. What a handsome fellow he is. I am so pleased that he is settling in nicely. It makes things all the sweeter when your special little bundle of fur feels right at home from the beginning. Have fun with Jay. I look forward to seeing more of his charming self again whenever you have a chance. Eros says "Hi!" to Jay and can't wait to hear all about his adventures.

Re: Meet Jay!
Jay is doing really well. He has been up this morning after I ruffled the substrate. Taken some food off me and allowed me to stroke him. He's a cutie.
He seems to be still wanting to burrow under everything so I have got him one of the large digging towers which I am going to pop in his cage today. Would It be better to put carefresh in there as I Don't like the idea of sawdust.

Re: Meet Jay!
Carefresh is definitely better than sawdust However, there are better substrates than Carefresh.Fitch for example in the UK is nowhere near as dusty and would cause no allergic reaction(sawdust and other things like hemp can and often do,especially in the case of wood based substrate). It's also cheaper than Carefresh even though it might be awkward figuring out just how to store it at first(the 20kg size is the best value).

Re: Meet Jay!
If, you can't get Fitch then carefresh is still a good option I switched to Fitch because it's cheaper but I never found Carefresh to be much more dusty.
Jay is such a handsome little hammy I hope that he continues to do well in his new home.
