Re: Hello - new hamster owner here
Welcome to HC, Cotton! I am truly sorry about the loss of your Winter White. I know how tragic losing someone you love can be. It doesn't matter how long they are with us, they always make huge paw prints in our hearts and live on in our fondest memories. I am so happy to hear that Zoey/"Little Bear" has burrowed into your heart and filled it with so much love and joy. I absolutely LOVE the name "Little Bear", by the way.
As far as which age is an appropriate or typical age to have any pet, I definitely do not believe that there is any age limit to open your heart to any creature that calls out to you to give it a loving, happy home. There are truly multiple people on HC alone that are total hamster lovers/owners. You will definitely not be the alone so just enjoy the bond between you and your newest ball of fluff and take pride in the fact that you are a true hamster lover just like the rest of us here.
I am so happy that you have decided to join our close-knit online family, and I very much look forward to seeing pics/reading the adventures of your newest addition to your family.

Re: Hello - new hamster owner here
Thank you, Dreamtree, for your lovely message. Zoey/Little Bear has had a couple name changes, but I keep coming back to Zoey & Little Bear so I think I will stay with those names now.
I enjoyed the pictures of your little family. Eros, with the ruby eye & a black eye, is unique and adorable. Enjoyed the picture of your guinea pig, too!

Re: Hello - new hamster owner here
How's your little one doing? What has Zoey/Little Bear been up to lately? I love both names and can't wait to put the names to an adorable face. Please give them a cuddle for by Eros and me.
Thanks for checking out my Eros and Snickers. I am glad that you enjoyed the pics.
Take care, Cotton.

Re: Hello - new hamster owner here
Welcome DreamTree, there's no upper age limit on being a pet owner of any kind, my wife and I became somewhat accidental hamster owners in February of this year and neither of us is under 38! Sadly our first hamster suffered a very early demise just a few days ago but we can't imagine not allowing another one to invade our living room and take over our lives!
