New Here Just Saying Hi
Hello everyone let me first introduce my self my name is sarah and i have five furry babies. 5 syrians and 1 russian white.
Syrians:
Dudeo-long hair
Chickadee- Silk black and white teddy
Skitzy potomus- silk tan and white
Cream Cycle- Short hair orange and white
Fuzz-Butt: Long hair all grey
Russian White:
Gimp-a-sauras
I started out with two and was set on just two but found my self getting another one when a pet store associate approached me and asked if i had an extra cage, I did and so she showed me gimp who has a bulge in her tummy and a pretty bad limp. They told me that she was "deformed" and i could take her for free. Well now its 3 months later and with lots of love and care she is 100% a ok. Sounds like someone there had hurt her and didnt want to own up to it. So i started an unofficial hammy sanctuary i rescue them love them and well now cant get enough them lol.

Hello! Welcome to the HC Family!
Oh wow! A lot of hammies to love and care for. Amazing names btw! So unique and inventive aha! It's so lovely that you've set up a little kind of rescuing service aha! I'd do that if I had the room for more cages!
Glad to hear that Gimp is all okay now!

Re: New Here Just Saying Hi
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this site but want to connect with other hamster caretakers/parents. Currently, I have a female 1 year old hamster, she's very cute and independent. She loves to play and eat. She's a Norwegian short haired with light brown, white and a black triangle on the top of her head. She's my girlfriend and we have a blast together playing and I love watching her in action in her ball, rolling around my bf's apt, where we live.
She my third hamster that I've had over the last 6 years. Alicia is her name. Any ideas on how to maintain her teeth? I wanted to trim them myself but I'm hearing it better if the vet does it. Anyone's thoughts?
Also, those who own female long haired teddy hamsters should not ingest a seed diet. The fat is bad for their reproductive system and could lead to illness and death. I was completely heartbroken after learning about this the hard way. I had to put my first hamster, BB to sleep from internal and external bleeding from her reproductive area. The vet said no seed diets, the fat is bad for females.
Have a great evening
S
