Default Yolandi & Co.

I've been posting around here and there, but I thought I'd go ahead and do a formal introduction for my only hamster child, and introduce her two sisters further on down!

This is my most spoiled and youngest furbaby!

Yolandi
AKA 'Landi, Diggin' Wiggin', Little Miss Brat, Tiniest Toasted Marshmallow

We adopted her from a Petco on May 24, 2016! The store claimed her to be a Djungarian hamster, but after doing some research I'm pretty much 100% sure she is a sweet little Robo girl~ Her love to run, skittish nature, and her funny little walk makes me draw that conclusion, anyway!

When she first started opening up (a few days after we adopted her) I knew I had a wild child on my hands! And she's still a wild child to this day. More often than not I lovingly call her a little brat, and I love her little attitude; she's perfect just the way she is! I still haven't gotten her 100% hand-tamed, but I haven't given up on her either~ At this stage, though, she's more than happy to take treats from my fingers (of course lol). She's very fond of pumpkin seeds, dried mealworms, and red bellpeppers! And she looooooves to rip and tear toilet paper off the roll (and just be destructive in general really)!

I said she was spoiled earlier and I meant it! Whenever I manage to get some leftover income from my freelance artist gig, it always goes to presents for my babies -- and she usually winds up getting the most stuff! But she deserves it all of course, haha~

And I'll just give a real quick shout-out to her older sisters~

Ringo & River

Ringo is a seven-year-old Tibetan Terrier mix, and River is a one-year-old Salt and Pepper hedgehog. They are both just lovely! Of course they never get any one-on-one time with Yolandi, as she could probably be a snack for either one of them, but behind the bars of a playpen or the plastic of a run-around ball they all get along just perfectly (even if Ringo has the internal, eternal struggle of being curious and terrified both). <3

I haven't posted over there in a while, but I will occassionally have pics and videos of all three of them on their Instagram account! Recently the two smallest babies got an Amazon haul so I should have more content featuring them within the next few days or so lol.

As for their caretakers -- that's me (LM) and my fiance Marty! Both of us love our three fur-daughters unconditionally and strive to make their lives better and better as much as we can.

Okay -- enough rambling from me! Thanks for being so hospitable so far, and so willing to share your knowledge. I look forward to learning more and more about hamster care from these forums!

Yolandi is so cute, so perfect! Love Ringo and River. I do have a soft spot for hedgehogs.

Hedgehogs, like all pets, are difficult and take time and care. They require higher temperatures and a special, high protein food mix. They can make amazing pets, but definitely with lots of time and dedication (at least in my opinion)
