Hello to all at Hamster Central
Hello! I am Amanda and I've had hamsters on and off for the past ten years. I want to be the best hamster owner I can and this forum is an amazing resource for that.
I currently have one female Syrian named Honey. I'm not sure how old she was when we got her, but we've had her for ten months so I suppose she'll be about a year old? She's not the cuddliest hamster I've ever had but she does love to sit on top of her house and wait for us to bring her a treat!

Re: Hello to all at Hamster Central
Hi and welcome to HC and to Honey too.
I tried to answer your question to me in 2 ways but both failed so I hope you will see this when you log on again.
We used either gorilla glue or super glue to mend the corner. We worked from the underside so nothing was on the topside. Then we used duct tape to reinforce the mend also from the underside. 8 months on it is ok but not strong. The barney shelf is over the mended corner so there is no weight on it and so my hamster cannot reach it.
Hope this helps.

Re: Hello to all at Hamster Central
Thank you both! And thanks Coco - that's super helpful! (For anyone reading who's confused, I have a broken Barney cage that I PM/emailed Coco for advice about after seeing she had a similar problem with hers).
I'll try to get a nice photo of Honey later - everyone else's photography skills put mine to shame! I have to make sure I do her justice or she'll never forgive me.

Re: Hello to all at Hamster Central
Thank you all for the welcome!
Honey has just been moved to the Barney cage. It's not fully set up yet - I want to put more things on the bars (she moved from a tank style set up) and make sure that her fall will be cushioned if she drops from a height, but she seems pretty pleased with it so far. Except for one thing...
I thought the new platform could do with a nice hidey-house so I whipped one up from a shoe box. Honey seemed to like this shoe box but I had made a very silly human mistake: her food bowl was outside the box! So she dragged it along the platform until the bowl was just outside the door. (I was laughing and capturing it on camera at the time). You'd have thought this would be close enough, but Honey disagreed. She lifted up the shoe box above the bowl and pushed the box forward so that when it fell back down again the bowl was inside the house!

Re: Hello to all at Hamster Central
Honey is one cute and very smart ham indeed!
To add some higher level that is safe have you considered using rat sizes tubes to hangand lead to rat sized Sputnik?

Re: Hello to all at Hamster Central
This was my first set up after I moved Mocho to his Barney. It's different now as I got him a new house.
