Default Hello. Foster hamsters for Animal Rescue and Care in London

Hi very new to hamsters, even though I have fostered for a few months, three of the four hamsters were adopted quickly. Considering adopting one I have had for about two months. Had another three foster hamsters come in yesterday, rescued from a man in London who has been banned from having any animals.

The latest three have behavioural issues, two females in a group of eight rescued, possibly pregnant, I have one female.

I have a lot to learn, plus hoping experienced hamster owners maybe interested in adopting.

I am an experienced rabbit owner of nearly 18 years and chinchillas for nearly 13 years, all rescued animals. Have had my lovely family of three chinchillas 13 years in September.

Welcome to HC

Fostering hams is a lovely thing to do, I just don't know how you let them go again after having them for a while lol!

Hi there,

Where can I find somebody that will be interested to look after my kids' Hamster for about 3 weeks? We will be away overseas and have no one to care for it. Appreciate any help or info you could give here. We live near Twickenham Rugby Stadium.

Looking forward to your reply.

I think there is a thread on Hamster sitters Roslio, or you can start a thread asking if anyone in your area would petsit. I would happily do it but unfortunately live at the other end of the country.

Have you tried googling pet sitters in your area? We have someone come in daily to attend to ours when we are away so also some vets and pet shops or even catteries will do small animal boarding if you google that. How about a school friend of the kids or a relative? Would they do it?

Thanks for all your lovely replies, I have adopted one of my foster hamsters. .

Unfortunately don't know about Hamster boarding. Sometimes our volunteers may consider boarding but we have had so many hamsters recently and not enough people who can foster, we have 8 hamsters on the waiting list coming from Wales and not enough room for them yet.
