Hamster bedding is mine safe

I'm using bedding that is cardboard but everyone says don't use soft bedding mines soft and it's called clean and cozy with a heart inside of the heart it says KAYTEE [TABLE][/TABLE]

I've never never used Kaytee Clean & Cozy, I don't think we get it here but I've seen others use it and as far as I know it's fine. I think it's a similar type of bedding to Carefresh. The things you shouldn't be using are pine (if you're outside of the U.K.) or cedar and no fluffy material for nesting in.

As far as I know Clean & Cosy is safe and actually better than Carefresh

C&C does give a warning on the side of the bag about it being unsafe if ingested. However like any warning it may not apply to your hamster or may require a large amount of ingesting to cause harm. The bad side of it is Hamsters pouch bedding and the lining of their pouch is close in texture and absorption to the lining of a stomach. So if a Hamster pouches the C&C and doesn't unpouch it quickly it does have potential for harm.

Me personally, I would use natural paper bedding like Boxo as it isn't bleached to make it white.

Hello Caseyavent, and welcome to Hamster Central.

I use both Boxo and Kaytee Clean and Cozy for my hammies, and have for a good long time. Never had a problem with either.
I have the "Birthday Cake" colors because I like the way it looks in the cage. I mix it with the Boxo which is plain brown, so the cage looks very attractive. In Tim E Bear's bedroom, it's all the C&C since it is so nice and soft. The Clean and cozy is exactly like the Boxo, soft paper-based bedding.
