Hello,
I'd thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is Joey, I am 31 and I live in a small town in the Netherlands.
I came across the name of this forum by the fun youtube channel of Erins Animals, which I found very fun to watch and most helpful.
I have owned hamsters since I was about 7 years old.
Mostly Russians, in the UK they are referred to as the Winter Whites.
I have had Syrians too.
My house is a bit of a Zoo.
I have many animals, a cat, a ballpython, a tortoise, a leopard gecko, a scorpion and a tarantula and a small fish tank.
I love animals and plants and wouldn't have it any other way.
At this point in time I have one hamster. His (I think he is a HE) name is Jiggy.
I first saw Jiggy when he was just a few weeks old, my friend has a few Russians and she had a litter. She and her boyfriend told me I could have one if I wanted.
Well... It took a long time obsessing about every detail but in the end, I got one that is exactly my type of hamster.
He is just like me in many ways and I think he is one of the most tame and gentle hamster I have ever met. He has been handled from a very young age and has never even taken a nip out of my finger.
He can be very straight forward sometimes, choosing to bomb himself of the glass storeys in stead of using the bridge to walk down...
Jumping straight against the glass when he is enthusiastic...
And just sliding down my shirt when he wants to get down from my shoulders.... lol I always crack up when handling him.
I first fell in love with him when I saw him with his siblings, he was playing in a wooden log and got stuck behind it and just kept laying there on his back protesting loudly.
I can be like that.... I crashed my face into the mesh door in a house once when I was small, didn't see it.... thought it was open.... but no....
We have a lot in common, lol so I knew this was the ham for me.
He is very pampered, loves to play, and is very kind and curious.
I love him very much....
I am here to mostly read, I'm not a very active poster but it depends on the subject, I love to read and look at pictures, so that's me....
