[SKB_Hamsters]

Hello, I’m SKB_Hamsters and I’m new to Hamster Central forum, I thought it was about time I joined as I use this forum as the main source of my hamster care information and I love to read about anything hamster related and I love seeing all your cute hamsters too.

I have owned hamster since November 2007, in that time I have had 6 hamsters, my 2 Russian ‘hybrids’, Honey and Caramel and 4 Syrian Hamsters, Cotton, Cookie, Toffee and my current hamster Sherbet.

Sherbet is my 1 year and 8/9month old Syrian hamster, who is still very active. She is extremely friendly and social hamster who is always getting herself into trouble. She enjoys her free-roam playtime in my room (the half of my room which is hamster safe), in which I have to sit with her otherwise she will climb over the playpen divider to get to me. Also Sherbet gets her cuddle time in the evening in which she enjoys to snuggle around my neck. Sherbet currently lives in an 80 x 50cm Ferplast Mary Cage, living on the substrate of fitch, aspen and p@H kiln-dried wood shavings and her food mix is harry hamster. Her favourite chews are her whimzees!

I also have a keen interest in hamster behaviour in which I’ve actually studied the behaviours of my hamsters, in which I can determine how my hamsters feel and can notice the minute changes in their body language, this came in really handy when taming my absolute fearful Syrian hamster Toffee in which she learnt to trust me, sadly she was taken from me a year to soon when she was 11months old by wet tail.

My main interest is hamsters, in which my hamsters are the main priority to me I would rather buy stuff for my hamster than myself, as you can see the enjoyment it brings to their lives. I also have a keen interest in crafts and DIY, in which I love to make things for myself and my hamsters.

I’m looking forward to talking more with fellow hamster enthusiasts and learning more about your hamsters and hamsters care in general.

Thank You for welcoming me. I know this forum has some really good threads and information in which I enjoy exploring through different topic as you never stop learning new things about hamsters and their requirement!

Hi welcome! I've had hamsters on and off since I was 10! They're quite addictive LOL. My very first was Harry. I got him for my 10th Birthday but had to share him with my 3 siblings! Sadly he died after 2 months, but I don't know why. He was fine when we put him back before dinner, and just lying there dead after dinner ... I was so upset that my brother had to bury him for me because I was too scared to!
My current hamster is Sweep! I got him last week. He's a Syrian hamster. He was 8 weeks old when I got him, so is now 9 weeks old. He loves to dig!!

Thank you, I know they are addictive once you've had one you want more. I'm sorry to hear about Harry and hope that you and Sweep become best buddies.
