I'm new!!! + our story :) meet my hammy YAMAHA

Hello!!!
My name is Aneta. I'm from Poland But livinfliving in Ireland for past 6 years When I was 11-14 yrs old I had my first contact with hamsters. I didn't know much about them back then. And my huge mistake was to have my first syrian in very small cage. VERY SMALL!!! And each of my hamsters were bar chewers no wonder why...
But back in October 2014 I went to maxizoo just to get some food for my dog I saw cages for small animals. And it was just a spare of the moment. I just grabbd a cage that seemed to be suitable for a hamster. I also got some food. Some treats. And same day I went to a smaller pet shop that I knew had hamsters. And I had a look. And one pretty lady cought my eye... However guy told me this was a male. After coming home I did a bit of research... And he was wrong... It was a girl. When I was younger I really wanted a hamster with red eyes, thats probobly what decided that I will take her home. And I felt that I was saving one hamster. As in the pet shop cage there was no toys what so ever!!! And my hammy was with one other hammy. Both were quite big and I knew that syrians cannot be in one cage...
Recently I discovered a YouTube channel called ErinsAnimals. Which helped me a lot!!! And from her I found out about this forum. I did my research and I will be upgrading my hammy aka YAMAHA to a Alexander cage. Hopefully this week when the pacage from zooplus will arrive! Im sooooo excited! I also ordered bunch of bendy bridges, flying saucer, trixie wheel and many more. Just to give her what she needs.
I think that a good pet owner is the owner that makes mistakes and then fixes them and expands the knowlage

Welcome to the forum! Erin is awesome - I've seen all her hamster videos and they are all very helpful I just got an Alexander cage too and it's awesome!

Those videos are really helpful. I am still waiting for my alexander cage I cannot stand the size of current cage! Also my wheel from ot was to small and I'm waiting for new one to arrive. I also have a problem with chewing on the bars. Hope that bigger cage and more toys will solve that problem.
