Pensioner
Am I the oldest person to buy a hamster? My very old dog died in September and I can't face having another yet, but the flat was too quiet and clean. I found Pebble in P@H and brought her home. She is filling a big, big gap, and demands attention quite disproportionate to her miniature size. I am besotted with her!

Re: Pensioner
We got some downright Methusalahs on this site....some of us are quite ancient.
There is a rumor that some members know of a Dark Hamster Gift, which renders their human minions immortal, but that's only rumor......

Re: Pensioner
Hello. It's amazing how something so small can make us love them so much isn't it! Life wouldn't be that same without our Obi
I'm sorry to hear about your pooch but glad a hammy is helping with the grief.

Re: Pensioner
We're not all young whippersnappers Not sure if that and "Methuselah" (Skeever...) are pejorative terms or not, but there is a nice range of ages and experiences here. Makes for a very nice community.
I'm so sorry to hear you lost your dog, but happy that you've been chosen by a ham
Welcome!

I'm not THAT ancient! Anyway - how can we know if you are too old for a Hamster? We don't know how old you are lol! But no you are never too old for a Hamster. Lovely little things!

Re: Pensioner
lol! it's never too late to get a hamster & they can fill the hugest of gaps in our lives, I think they just pretend to be tiny so we don't realise just how much of our lives they are going to take over!
Welcome to the addiction

Re: Pensioner
Thank you all for your commiserations and enthusiastic support. I have to admit that I nearly pretended Pebble was for the grandchildren when I bought her! She ate through the cardboard box before I even got to the bus stop, but luckily I had also bought a cage for her so she kept the other passengers amused during the journey. She now has the Duna Fun Large, which she loves, although I nearly had to move out to fit it in my tiny flat!

Re: Pensioner
I got our hamster for our little boy as a reward for being brave after an operation, but it is me who is besotted with our little furry friend - he's my baby! It is a wonderful thing to have a hamster as an adult pet - I think we get far more enjoyment and interest from them than children do. Our little boy likes playing with Charlie but loses interest in him now and then.
