Hi all! My name is Mary, and I live in Brooklyn, NY. I have always had some type of pet, mostly cats, but I am new to hamsters.
I had no intention of ever having one, but one day I was in Petco with my 2 kids, and we always check out all the animals. We were looking at the Syrian hamsters and I saw this sweet little face looking at me. His coloring reminded me of my favorite cat, Rusty. Both kids said they wanted him. I knew my husband would have a fit because we already have 2 cats, a 10 gallon tank with fish and bowls with bettas all over the house, so I said no. I went back with my friend the next day because she wanted to look at hamsters, and this sweet little orange-y guy was still there. He had been alone, but now they dumped 2 strange hamsters in with him. They took over his house and he didn't look very happy.
Then he came up to the glass to look at me and put his paw out and that was that lol. I named him Pumpkin.
Now I also have a robo named Swaggles because my friend thought she was allergic to the 2 that she bought. So, I went from having no hamsters to two (in separate cages of course).
