Hi from Neg & Chib

Just a quick hello from myself, and our new baby.

We have had Chibby (full name Chiana) for just over two weeks, and are loving every minute of it. Mrs Neg had asked the birthday fairies for a hamster, and a suitable palace for it to live in. Several DIY related injuries later the bin cage hamster abode was ready for the big day and we went to a local shop (having already checked everywhere in the area) and picked up the cutest hamster in the world.

I won't have much to post here, fingers crossed no problems ahead! but I wanted to say a huge thank you for all the information on here that I read before and after we got Chibs that has made the whole process go so smoothly (minor house/larder/toilet confusion aside)

We are into our third week, she is getting more confident with being handled, has been potty trained, and we can't wait to watch her grow up.

I'll post some pics of her bin cage in the DIY section.

I have that play box! I am not using it yet though until I get the large vivarium. Is that Carefresh I see too?

One thing about that box. The wood on mine has little holes. I presume it has been treated.

Close! it's Megazorb, a suggestion I picked up on here, much nicer than the woodchips I used as a kid.

I was a bit worried about the wood being treated, but couldn't see any signs that it had been.

Thanks for the compliments, I'll be sure and pass them on to Chibby, not that she is not spoilt enough already.

We already fight daily over who's turn it is to give her a treat.

Welcome to the forum Neg and the very gorgeous Chibby. You have a beautiful short haired Sable hamster with lovely cream eye rings. Sables are really beautiful. Looking forward to hearing lots more about her.

On her front she has the cutest little white stripe, then a little white belly.
