Default Hi, From a Newbie in Leicester

Hi. I am a newbie to the site and have two femasle Russian Dwarfs but have had hamsters before. I used to have about 14 of them a few years ago and now just have two and should be getting another one either tomorrow or within a few days. I have a spare cage set up and ready for a new male. I like building things out of wood ot butter tubs for pets. I have just made a teardrop caravan / home out of plywood and a hideout from a plastic butter tub for my next hamster. I do not know wether I will breed the male I get with one of my females. I might do it just once for the experience. I used to breed canaries and have successfully hand reared one that was rejected by its parents. I will be putting up some pics of my hammies and some of the items I build. I have yet to go through the site to see what is happening. I live in Leicester UK. Thanks for reading this and for taking the time.

Hi ianpallen! I'm looking forward to seeing your hammies and things you're built (I also like building things but I'm not good enough hehe ). I read you had problems to upload photos, looking for the brown buttom "manage attachments", there you'll be able upload pictures

Cages
The silver base cage has the two females in and the red base one is set up for the male, when I get him. The last pic is a home I made from a clover tub.

Thanks JordiDL. I am thinking of making another caravan and a beach hut. I am after a 3ft fish tank and having a beach themed layout in it. It will take time to get and complete with what I have in mind, but I have some ideas from when I had bearded dragons and saw some desert themes in the vivs.

Hi Ian, welcome to HC.

Just like JordiDL, I adore the caravan, it is beautiful. I'd love to be able to make some items from wood for my hamsters but unfortunately my talents don't lie in that area!

The idea for a beach themed tank sounds wonderful and I know many of us will look forward to seeing you start that project and follow your progress through to the finished environment. How exciting!

Screech and Sandy are very cute and I'm looking forward to meeting your new male when he comes along to join the family.

Thanks Artisans. I am in the middle of making a vw camper home / hide for one of the hamsters. I dont know who will get it yet.
The tank beach cage is some time off yet, but as soon as I can get a 3ft tank, it wont be long after that it will be up and running.
