Default Hi everyone!

Hi! I got a new hamster yesterday, called Mio. She is a chinese hamster who is white and grey. I would take pictures, but she is quite shy at the moment. Mio is the first hamster I have owned since 2012, so I've forgotten quite a few things about hamster behaviour.

First of all, Mio shakes quite a bit, is this normal in new hamsters?
Mio's heart beats quite fast, I can tell by looking at her when she sleeps. Is it normal for a hamster's heart to beat fast?
Mio keeps making a quiet sucking/chirping/clicking sound, mostly when unloading food from her cheeks, cleaning her face, and walking around the cage. I am the really worried about this, as the vet is quite far away and the bus is my only option for transport.
She's been eating really well, but she hasn't been drinking any water. Please help me out, I don't want to go to bed with any worries on my mind

Hello,
can't wait to see some pics of Mio!
Clicking sounds can be normal for a hamster as my previous did it sometimes and she was fine and lived a happy life.

It sounds more of a sucking sound more than a clicking sound, but it's somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately she's still to shy for pictures, she freaks out when I'm near her and goes to hide.

She has been drinking, and is still eating well, but I tried to give her some cucumber with my hand in her cage and she wouldn't come near me

Welcome to the forum!
I have never owned a Chinese hamster, but I do know that they are naturally shy, so definitely leave her to settle and explore her cage so she can feel more comfortable.

What is she using to drink from? If it's a water bottle, make sure it is working properly, but it may take time for her to use it if she never has had one. You could also try a water bowl for her as a second option?

I would not worry too much about the noises as some hamsters are more vocal than others or will make noises if they are nervous or even happy ect.

She's drinking using a ball bottle, I have to shake her bottle every day because she just licks it instead of pushing the ball with her tongue. I've tested that it's working and it's working fine

She has settled in great! She has finally discovered how the wheel works, RIP my sleep. She's stopped making noises now, but she makes herself sneeze when she wipes her face. I have a cold, but I wash my hands before I touch anything in her cage, so there's no chance of her getting it from me?

I can't wait to take pictures of her and share them with you all xD
