Hello from myself, and Poppy

Hello Everyone

I got a baby Syrian hamster on Saturday from a lovely lady who had an accidental litter from her rescue hamster. I really wanted to get a homebred hamster rather than getting one from the petshop.

My young son wanted a hamster, as his died last year, but we waited a while before we rushed into having another one. We are all, as a family enjoying looking after Poppy, the Syrian hamster (although I must confess I am probably the most hooked on her).

I am sure I will have lots of questions to ask as she grows etc. It was the lady who I got her off that suggested joining this forum

Hello, and welcome to the forum. We collected a hamster for our daughter on Friday, so we're just getting to know our new addition too.

Thanks Everyone, I got my hamster from Angelbabies above. I didn't to get a pet store hamster as, although I have always had hamsters since a small child, one I had from a pet shop was really vicious and bit me and scared me off having any more. I wanted to get one that someone raised at home and I couldn't have asked for a better family to get her from, Angelbabies was fantastic and has put so much time and love into her hamsters.

I love the hamster we have now and although it is meant to be my son's - I think of it as mine

It is also refreshing to be part of a forum where everyone is so nice and respectful to one another.
