Default Hello from bonnie scotland!!!

Hi everybody,

I'm very much looking forward to chatting to you all - especially as I've recently had a gorgeous baby hamster move in with me who I'd like to tell you all about and swap stories and info about all your hamster experiences

I'd like to thank Morag from babyboos hamstery for e-mailing me about this forum and also to thank you so much for helping me get my little hamster. I've called her Maisie and she has won many hearts with her striking badger markings I'll post a photo of her soon

Thanks for making me feel so welcome. It's so nice to be able to be part of a group I have just got a new digital camera so as soon as I figure out how to work it I'll post some piccies of lil' Maisie.

I can't believe how friendly Maisie is - she seems completley unconcerned about being stroked or handled. She already has lots of amusing cute little antics that I'll be sure to share with you all - maybe I'll enter the competition.

What are the dates and venue for the hamster show in Edinburgh in September. I hope I can go (trouble is that I work every other weekend )

Hi Sarah welcome to the forum! I have recently accomated a hamster. His name is TJ and I rescued him from a lovely couple Ian and Carol who run Rodent Palace Rescue. Maisie sounds lovely! Hope you like it here.

Default Temperment

Temperment is very important in a hamster and something I personally take very seriously. All my babies are handled daily morning and night so you can imagine my boyfrend and I don't get much sleep and all my friends come round for a play which helps to make them well socialised. Of course all baby hamsters are jumpy but there is no visciousness behind their leaping out of your hands. We work very hard with our rescues of all ages, and hamsters that are brought to us just for behavioural therapy Some hamsters are just always going to prefer to be left alone and only touched very briefly to move them for enclosure cleanouts etc sadly. We find the majority of this is genetic which is why it is important to only get a hamster from a good hobby hamster breeder if you can and see them handling your baby and their parents too if possible.

Sarah I will post details of the show when they are finalised. Look forward to seeing pictures of Maisie soon.
