I already have rats and I am looking to get a nice syrian later on in the year. Just found this forum it looks fab. I want to learn as much as I can about hammie care before I add another furry to my clan.

Look forward to speaking to you all soon

Wow, I am the 100th, cool

I am a member of a fancy rats forum and I had posted there to see if anyone knew of any hamster forums and another member had found this one yesterday

Why thank you Emma, it must feel cool to be the 100th registered user, I know I am happy about it, that’s quite a number of members and I think it shows that this forum and site is doing pretty well, although at times I do wish it was more active, but considering the short amount of time its been in existence,

I’m trying to find out when I got the domain.. I cant seem to, but its hasn’t been a whole years yet that’s for sure.

Hi there Emma, good name!!

Welcome to HC it's great that you've thought to learn about hamsters before you get one, I wish more people would think before they buy! If you have any questions at all feel free to ask away

I'm the other way round - I have 5 hamsters and would love to have some rats, just no space for a large enough cage at the moment!

Em x

Yeah, I made the mistake of buying my first rat without knowing that much about their care and I had him in a toally unsuitable tank, on unsuitable bedding and feeding him the wrong food! I had done everything the way the petshop staff had recommended without realising they knew nothing about rats. I joined an online uk rat forum and I have learned much more about rat care. Rat owning is addictive I have 11 now.

I have had hammies when I was very young, so I wanted to make sure I do it right this time

My rats cage takes up a huge amount of space (about 41/2 foot by 5 1/2 foot, maybe more ) I am lucky in the flat I live in I have an alcove in the hallway, I have no idea what I will do when we move. I will need to build an extension

I would love to re-home an rescue hammie so I have pm'd babyboos. Fingers crossed there is a hammie out there who wants to live with me
