Hi,
I thought I'd come and join you, mainly for good advice about the best possible hamster care. I am a member of a rat lovers board and the knowledge there is excellent, and I find that I now know more about how best to care for rats than I do hamsters. I'm hoping coming here will fill the gaps.
As well as being a single mum, and having 5 RSPCA rats, I have four hamsters.
Harry is 20 mnths old and lives on carefresh in a Mary cage with added platforms. He's a lovely lad, very friendly, and more than happy to stroll over and say hello. He's even been known to squeak for attention. We are all very fond of him. He lives in one of the children's bedrooms, away from all the noise so he gets enough sleep, and during bedtime stories, he comes out for a run.
Snickers is a 2 year old winter white russian hamster who lives in a nice big cage, but she is getting old and less inclined for climbing, so I have just ordered her a Mary cage so that she has more floor space. She is extremely energetic and has grown rather bitey in her old age.
Rosa and Daisy the Chinese dwarfs were litter mates but soon started fighting and had to be seperated. I don't like rotastak at all, but Daisy lives in a big set up, with a wire cage area so she can get some ventilation.
Poor Rosa has the smallest home at the moment but she is soon to inherit Snicker's big cage. She is the friendliest of the lot, and quite likes to be handled. They are both 18 mnths old.
I'll take some good photos of them all sometime soon.
Thanks for reading. maybe you've guessed by now that I love my animals
