Default Another newbie saying hi

Hi everyone.

I kept hamsters as a kid like most people, but am now in the process of doing the research and reading in preparation for getting a pair of Dwarf Russians.

This looks like a great place to get advice from people with a lot of hamster experience, and I'm looking forward to posting here.

Also, if anyone knows of any breeders of Dwarf Hamsters (preferably Winter Whites) in central Scotland, I'd love to hear about them. I did find one place on the net that looked very good, but the website isn't working and the email was returned with an error message.

I'd prefer to get my hamsters from a reputable breeder rather than one of those pet chain stores which shall remain nameless..... Any info you guys might have greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Scarlet! I'm glad you are doing your research first! I'm sure you will find this community to be friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I'm from the US so I cant recommend any breeders but we have many other users in the UK that Im sure can offer some help in locating a breeder when they get around the checking the forum

Hi Scarlet and welcome! I`m also in Central Scotland! I`m near Stirling, do you know it?

I have a winter white called Scooby who came from rescue and he`s such a daft character! I would definately recommend winter whites. Babyboos (Morag) on here is a great breeder and if you contact her (I would PM through here incase it`s her website you tried previously) and see if she has any? She has many lovely hammies young and elderly looking for good homes. I`m sure she`d be pleased to hear from you. She`s based in Edinburgh by the way.

Oh, I also have two roborovskis from Morag! They live seperately now though as one started bullying the other, so they are happy wee hammies now. x

Welcome to the forum and great to hear you are getting some hammies soon. I know Babyboos is good and I also know an excellent breeder if you can stretch to Newcastle!

Hello! I was going to say Babyboos but it seems that others have already, hope you get your winter whites soon. I own 2 winter whites called Snowy and Smokey.

Thanks for the welcome messages and info. I know of Stirling, but have never been. My boyfriend went to the university though.

It was indeed the Babyboos site I had tried, so it's a happy coincidence to find the lady is a member here. Especially since I'm in Edinburgh also. I will PM her today.

That`s great! I`m sure Morag will be only too pleased to hear from you regarding some hamsters.
