Hi everyone!

I am looking forward to dropping in from time to time. I call my hamstery "Hamsters Inc." and am located in Ontario, Canada. I have 34 hamsters. I have Syrians, Dwarves and Roborovskiis. The most hamsters I have ever had in my hamstery, was 200. That was a lot! I spent hours everyday looking after them. However, the sad part is that most of them are getting quite old and it always breaks my heart when one of my "babies" dies.

I have bred many hamsters for pets for others but am not breeding any litters at the moment. But, I am very happy to share what I have learned from taking care of mine.

I have lots of pictures of the hundreds of hamsters I have had and hope to be able to share them with you.

Welcome to the forum. My goodness that is a lot of hammies. You must have been busy cleaning and feeding non stop! We would love to meet some and hear some of their adventures

Hello Christine! welcome to the website! I say this all the time, but we are always glad to have new members, especially people that have had extensive experience! The more experienced hammy owners that can help the inexperienced the better!

I'm from Canada myself and actually grew up in Ontario! what part of the province are you from? I live in the US now after meeting my hubby Smoo, but I'm still very much a Canadian at heart!

Bah that is so sweet! *tears* After all my hard work I really seem to be getting allot of appreciation and praise from others and its just so wonderful. I must thank you for all the kind compliments. We are still growing though. Perhaps you could contribute some article on breeding since you have some experience under your belt? Ive been wanting some articles with photos of pup development. If not thats fine, no pressure just a thought!

Lovely to hear from you. You are very welcome to Hamster Central, and I hope you enjoy your time spent with us.
I agree entirely it is awful when you have an ageing population of hamsters and this certainly seems to have been my fate the last two years. Since leaving university I have been unable to breed as many litters as I used to, and I fear sadly the appeal of large out of town shopping centres has meant many people go there for a hamster rather than seeking out a good quality hobby hamster breeder, and nobody seems interested at all in rescues, so more and more of them are living out their lives with me here. Or this is the situaton here in UK anyway, hopefully it is better with you in Canada.

Wow, I'm new here too, so welcome! That is a lot of hamsters! My dad when I was young had a small animal business. He raised mice mostly, but had some hamsters and rats. So I understand how much work it it takes to have that many animals!!
